The EOSC Compute Platform, delivered by EGI-ACE, is a distributed computing environment that federates compute, storage and high-level services from research performing organisations and commercial entities.
The services of the Compute Platform rely on various management services that are designed for the efficient management of federated compute environments. The management services ensure the correct operation of the various providers across administrative domains, provide a coordinated allocation of resources at the sites, and implement interoperability between the Platform and the EOSC Core.
EGI’s Authentication and Authorisation service, called Check-in, is a key component of the architecture and enables the use of common identities across all the layers of the Compute platform and the rest of EOSC. A Configuration Database, a Monitoring service, a Usage Accounting system, and a Helpdesk service complement the portfolio, alongside other non-technical services and coordination activities, such as an IT Management System, service security oversight, incident response management and integrated resource allocation team.

Service Management Tools – Technical Plan presents a brief functional description for each service, reports the requirements that have been implemented over the first year of EGI-ACE, and provides the technical development roadmap for the next period. The technical roadmap is directly driven by the needs of the EGI-ACE service providers, especially by the providers of the EOSC Compute Platform. Indirect influencers of the evolution of the Service Management Tools are the stakeholders of the broader EOSC landscape

These services are sustained through the funds collected through the membership fees of the EGI Federation. The number and capacity of these services depend on the budget and overall requirements gathered from the members of the EGI Foundation.
It can be replicated by other Federations with some modifications depending on the context.
The result is connected and supported by existing legal entities – EGI Foundation and the services are sustained through the funds collected through the membership fees of the EGI Federation.
