Result description
Integration of CFU’s (Custom Function Units are accelerators tightly coupled with CPU’s that add custom instruction to the ISA using a standardised format defined by RISC-V International) into Renode. Improvements to mechanisms used for integrating with Verilator.
Addressing target audiences and expressing needs
- Business partners – SMEs, Entrepreneurs, Large Corporations
- Expanding to more markets /finding new customers
The main target that is of business interest to Antmicro are technology companies that are developing machine learning applications for embedded systems and buidling ML accelerators. Renode allows developers to build and test their solutions without access to physical hardware.
- Other Actors who can help us fulfil our market potential
R&D, Technology and Innovation aspects
Implemented and used by third party in commercial projects.
Further improvements with regard to the interface flexibility and increased coverage of various use cases. Development of the test framework for the RISC-V Composable Extensions certification work.
CFUs are a feature of the open source RISC-V specification designed to enable flexibility of implementation. Renode’s determinism, open licensing, and automation capabilities offer scalability unattainable through physical hardware testing, even for very large designs. RISC-V is also an emerging standard across many industries, thanks to its adaptability.
Renode offers fully-deterministic, software-agnostic, replicable simulation without the constraints of proprietary licensing. Combined with the RISC-V CFU specification, it enables end-to-end testing of open silicon-based solutions across, arguably, all industries.
CFUs are part of the RISC-V open ISA, behind which sustainability is one of the core values. Along with Renode’s full extensibility, determinism and unhindered access to source code, the solution offers full transparency to all involved parties.
