Result description
The gamma station is an integrated system equipped with two detectors for the gamma characterization of the waste package.
The two systems are:
- The ENEA SRWGA tomographic and segmented gamma scanner for passive spectrometric measurements, the “active” transmission measurement to study waste matrix, and drum weighting;
- The RadHand for the dose rate at contact evaluation and the spectroscopic measurement in open geometry
And they can be further expanded adding a gamma camera for hot-spot search in open geometry.

Currently the system had been tested during the MICADO demo in the ENEA laboratories, it could be further improved by placing it on a movable container and test it on a remote site.
The result is replicable as it is and already could be used by different waste operators thanks to its intrinsic flexbility, it is composed by commercially avalable components and easy to replicate designs. It was conceived to be adaptable to different end-user requirements, such modifications do not impact the replicability.
