Data Logistics Service (DLS) can schedule, orchestrate, manage, and monitor data movement. It is integrated with popular data repositories and supports both stage-in and stage-out to and from HPC, cloud, etc.

Current stage description

DLS is based on Apache Airflow which is top level Apache project with vibrant and active community. It is currently part of eFlows4HPC Workflow-as-a-Service where it is responsible for data movements and data management operations. It may be leveraged and enhanced in other use cases.

Formalizing description of data-oriented operations (data movements, outsourcing to external services, especially relevant for large transfers) is key to reproducibility and implementation of FAIR practices in scientific workflows.For HPC centers, DLS can serve as a gateway to attract new customers by supporting their data migrations.
