Energy performance certificates provide important information about energy consumption and play an important factor in investing, renting, and buying decisions. To this end, the D^2EPC framework mainly focuses on delivering an EU-based platform for issuing EPCs based on a common methodology for buildings across EU. This implementation leads to the construction of a centralized database for storing these dynamic EPCs. Centralized information of EPCs regarding important information such as the energy class/grade, the type of building/dwelling and an approximate location can be very useful for data interpretation and further analysis. The D^2EPC GIS is a novel web application tool, with the following functionalities: a)Produce statistics for dEPC issued by D^2EPC framework for Nomenclature or territorial units for statistics as defined by Eurostat (NUTS) b)Visualize EPC statistics on map (WebGIS) c)Provide spatial & attribute EPC related queries d)Compare EPC statistics for different regions and geographical scales e)Disseminate data via OGC (Open Geospatial Consortium) services f)Visualize BIM models on map for pilot case buildings

At this stage the core development of the WebGIS tool has finished, including all its different subcomponents, such as the back-end, the front-end client, the webserver, the geospatial database etc. The main functionalities of the tool have been developed and are fully operational at this point. The solution is scalable and can be easily expanded and / or migrated to another host server.
The tool is fully scalable and replicable and intergratabvle to existing platform solutions as it has been developed with open source software. Additionally, it can be easilly expanded and migrated to any hosting environmnt while also maintaining all its functionallities.
Moving to an era where resource efficiency is getting more and more attention and is integrated into all major aspects of the energy sector, further advancements in the field of EPCs as a handy tool for visualizing statistics and performing queries over issued EPCs for different regional scales auto are of vital importance. D^2EPC webGIS identifies the necessity to move to a holistic assessment of the building’s environmental performance, to expand the understanding of the actual impact of the building on the environment as a whole. To this end, the introduction of a platform that offers an automatic, well-established database across Europe can offer advice on improving energy efficiency for each particular case can reduce energy consumption, and ultimately lower energy costs. This tool is a step toward the future and the energy transition towards more effective climate change mitigattion measures.
