The CIIRC RP95-3D is the certified prototype of a protective half-mask that consist of the high-quality plastic (P12) mask and a replaceable filter (P3R filter certified for EN 143:200). The half-mask was designed to be printed on HP Multijet Fusion 4200 and 5200 series machines solely for humanitarian and non-profit purposes during the COVID-19 emergency. The half-mask has a long-term life-span as it can be repeatedly sterilized. The head grip was developed in cooperation with doctors to assure safe handling and prevent from contamination of the mask from inside. The FFP3 class half-mask received fast track certification for EN 140:1999 from the Research Institute of Occupational Safety, Czech Republic. It has the highest level of protection enabled by the filtration efficiency and tight facial sealing. The half-mask can be easily manufactured by using commonly available technologies across the EU (HP 3D Printers). It enables high quality protection, increases the number of protected workers and significantly decreases the protection costs. More than 3,000 half-masks have been produced in the Czech Republic so far and distributed by the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic.

RICAIP team at CIIRC CTU targets for a public grant to finance further development of the half-masks, esp. regarding adjusting the mask´s design to suit children patients with serious illnesses. The research team collaborates with the Masaryk University in Brno at the national level and seeks further cooperation with EU RTOs and the academic sector. We would specifically appreciate a subsidy for setting up the Anti-COVID Living lab in the Testbed for Industry 4.0 at CIIRC CTU that would help to promote the activities, raise awareness about the know-how and enable wider collaboration.
