A tool-box combination of sensors and Intelligence that can be easily tailored to the specific case and customer, and then will engineer the collected data from machines (currently friction welding machines) to provide at least three outputs:
- Understanding the performance and use of the actual machine so customer complaints could be quickly responded and solved
- Adding value to customer providing feedback for better performance and predictive maintenance
- Diagnose the machine prior to a cost-effective refurbishment to be put again in the market for a new customer, and extend its life span

R&D, Technology and Innovation aspects
Currently the system is deployed in an industrial environment on a pilot machine. First validations have taken place, more to be performed. Other upcoming steps include to explore and develop additional functionalities, implement additional functionalities, define licence terms & conditions, prepare sales material.
The Machine as a Service Business model that is foreseen for this result can be easily scaled up to more customers.
First validations have taken place in an industrial environment, giving a certain level of confidence about the prediction quality of the algorithms. Further tests and validations are currently ongoing and aim at confirming the quality of the results.
The circular business model (MaaS) alllows to not only sell products once, but to lease them and provide accompanying maintenance and support services during the active product life-time. In addition this scheme allows to refurbish, upgrade, and recycle the machines, fully exploiting their potential and thus contributing to a sustainable production.
